U.S. business also receives Honorable Mention for Midsize Agency of the Year
New York, NY, March 22, 2007 — Text 100 Public Relations, a leading global technology public relations firm, has been named a winner in the PRWeek Awards 2007 program in the PR Innovation of the Year and the Young PR Professional of the Year categories. Text 100 also received an honorable mention in the Midsize Agency of the Year category. The competition is the North American PR industry's highest accolade given annually to the best public relations corporate, nonprofit, and agency teams as well as the campaigns they produce. Winners in the 33 categories were announced at a gala ceremony held at Tavern on the Green in New York City on March 8.
Text 100 won PR Innovation of the Year for becoming the first global public relations firm to establish a presence in Second Life, a rapidly growing virtual world in which businesses can innovate, collaborate and educate in a 3-D environment. Judges noted that at "a time when the PR industry is struggling with all of the new ways to reach audiences, many firms will boast of their experience with new and social media. By being the first PR agency to open a virtual office in Second Life, Text 100 successfully positioned itself as an innovator."
Text 100's Aaron Uhrmacher, peer media consultant, won the Young PR Professional of the Year Award. Uhrmacher managed the agency's entry into Second Life and displayed a keen understanding of social media technologies, which prompted judges to comment that he had an "impressive ability to leverage new media to advance the business." Uhrmacher's other notable accomplishments include his leadership in the Text 100 digital lifestyle sector and participation in a successful presentation on virtual worlds to the Arthur Page Society.
"Innovation and the concept of looking at the world differently has always been a key part of what makes Text 100 so different," said Aedhmar Hynes, CEO, Text 100. "Working in the technology industry where innovation and invention are fundamental in establishing and maintaining a leadership position means that we've always been comfortable in challenging the status quo. Winning these awards is therefore a tremendous public recognition of one of the key hallmarks of Text 100, which is something our people have been proud of for some time."
In addition to winning two PRWeek Awards and an honorable mention in Midsize Agency of the Year, Text 100 also received honorable mentions in the Business-to-Business Campaign of the Year category for work with Xerox, and in the Product Brand Development Campaign of the Year category for a campaign executed with Sprint Nextel. Text 100 was shortlisted for a total of 10 awards.
