Stockholm, Sweden, December 20, 2006 — Text 100 Public Relations, a leading global technology public relations firm, has been honored with Sweden's most prestigious public relations award, the Spinn Award 2006, in the category "Best use of Internet and Digital Media." Text 100 Sweden was awarded the prize for a campaign it managed for Intel that successfully promoted the new Conroe processor among the gaming and computer enthusiast audience.
The centrepiece of Text 100's campaign was an 'overclocking' event for Intel. Arranged in association with enthusiast site NordicHardware, the event was held during DreamHack, the world's largest LAN-party, in June 2006. Overclocking is a practice employed by PC enthusiasts to increase the performance of their computers. During the event, record holding overclocker "Crotale" put the new Intel Conroe processor through its paces, creating three world overclocking records.
The world record event created tremendous buzz for the upcoming Conroe processor's launch among the gaming and enthusiast communities, particularly computer hardware and gamer blogs and community sites. In addition to reaching the 6,000 gamers present, the live demonstration generated 86 articles, links and mentions in 17 countries on five continents. There were also 388 comments on those articles, with close to 100% being positive about Intel.
"Intel truly appreciates Text 100's proactivity in initiating and driving through the overclocking project," says Camilla Törnblom, Nordic PR manager at Intel. "Obviously Text 100 puts great efforts in listening to and understanding Intel's enthusiast audience. The number and quality of the resulting articles and comments speak for themselves."
Spinn Award's voting jury offered the following commendation for Text 100's campaign:
"Overclocking doesn't mean much for the average man but if you are a 'gamer' it's more exciting. When three new world records are set in front of that key target audience, it's no surprise (the jury) liked the campaign. The media penetration in 17 countries on five continents is something that also impressed us".
"We're thrilled by this award. It's a wonderful testimony of how Text 100 is helping clients embrace new media forms," said Sara Möndell, general manager of Text 100 Sweden. "The typical gaming and computer enthusiast audience doesn't listen to corporate messages, but rather to peers and community influencers. This award really recognizes that Intel and Text 100 listened to and understood how to communicate with the community."
