New York, NY, June 16, 2006— Text 100 Public Relations, a leading global technology public relations firm, and Royal Philips Electronics, one of the world's biggest electronic companies, have been honored with a Bronze Anvil Award from the Public Relations Society of America. Text 100 and Philips received the award in the Video News Releases Category after producing a VNR that successfully promoted Philips wireless technology that enables contactless payments utilizing a cell phone with a specialized Philips chip.
The Bronze Anvil Awards were created by PRSA in 1969 to recognize outstanding public relations tactics, the individual items or components of programs or campaigns. They are awarded in 50 categories and subcategories including consumer relations, newsletter, website, feature story, press/media kit and blogs.
"Given that we've just been working with Philips for less than a year, it is a tremendous accomplishment to have already received an award for one of our projects," said Aedhmar Hynes, CEO, Text 100. "It is testament to our hardworking team that PRSA has recognized them for their creativity and outstanding results. We look forward to sharing many more successes with Philips as we continue to develop our relationship."
The VNR ran in the weeks leading up to Christmas 2005 and showcased the ability for consumers to swipe their cell phone instead of their credit card at counters or access movie information and tickets by waving their cell phone over a reader on a poster. It also focused on holiday shopping as a way to connect with consumers who identify with long lines and multiple purchases during this busy season. Man on the street sound bites such as "simplify your cash register experience" coupled with b-roll of holiday shopping scenes illustrated the simplicity of the technology.
The VNR received 234 airings including two national airings and 232 local airings, with a total of 4,860,810 impressions. Additionally, NFC Forum, a non-profit industry association formed to advance the use of NFC (Near Field Communications) short-range wireless interaction in consumer electronics, mobile devices and PCs, is now using the VNR in its meetings with prospective industry partners to showcase the wide appeal and potential of the technology.
"The VNR had a substantial impact in increasing consumer awareness of the benefits of NFC technology," said Andre Manning, director of corporate communications for Philips Electronics North America. "We are very pleased that PRSA has recognized the quality of our work and the success we had in communicating our key messages."
