Text 100 International and Workinpr.com award $2,500 scholarships to college students pursuing a career in public relations
SAN FRANCISCO - October 15, 2001-Text 100 International, one of the largest global independent technology public relations consultancies in the world, today announced the winners of the Scholarship for Excellence in High Tech PR, a scholarship for college students pursuing a career in public relations. Text 100 teamed with Workinpr.com, a public relations career site dedicated to meeting the needs of current and future PR professionals, to reward and encourage students who are excelling in the study of public relations by helping them achieve their education goals.
Winners received a $2,500 award, paid directly to their college or university, as well as a Text 100 Excellence Trophy and the opportunity for an informational interview with one of Text 100's seven North American offices located in Atlanta, Boston, New York, Rochester NY, San Francisco, Seattle and Silicon Valley.
"Public relations is the ultimate expression of the value of technology and as such, it is essential that students understand that the discipline is both strategic and accountable," said Aedhmar Hynes, CEO, Text 100 International. "We believe that it is our responsibility to invest in the future of the PR industry by helping prepare students for the challenges of a career in technology public relations, thus raising the bar for professionals entering the workforce."
Students were tasked with writing a comprehensive essay outlining their strategy for launching a high-profile product of a well-known technology company and were required to submit two letters of recommendation and proof of a minimum 3.0 GPA. An exhaustive two-part judging system ensured each essay was carefully evaluated on the basis of depth of understanding of PR principles and methodology as well as overall creativity and strategic thinking.
