The Council of PR Firms 2000 ranking shows company’s organic growth is more than five times the industry average
SAN FRANCISCO - April 26, 2001-Text 100 International, the largest global independent technology public relations firm in the world, today announced that the Council of PR Firms has released its year 2000 rankings showing that Text 100 is leading its counterparts in organic growth with a revenue increase of 65.5 percent over the previous year. Average organic growth within the top 25 agencies was 12.9 percent, a growth rate less than one-fifth that achieved by Text 100. Text 100 ranked number 22 worldwide with revenue of approximately $33.7 million.
This is the first year the Council of PR Firms tracked organic growth, which was calculated by removing all revenues attributable to acquisitions. The Council also reported pro forma growth, which consists of annualized revenues and includes the full year's value of all acquisitions. According to the Council, organic growth is important to public relations executives and investors as a primary indicator of the vitality of the PR industry. In past years, firms favoring acquisition strategies have dominated growth statistics, since previous rankings did not distinguish organic growth from pro forma growth.
"Our philosophy is to grow organically so that our methodology, quality and culture are consistent around the globe," said Aedhmar Hynes, CEO, Text 100. "This approach ensures that clients experience the same, high level of results from their PR programs from country to country. The companies we work with appreciate that Text 100 is Text 100 from the ground up, not just some other PR company with a new name."
Text 100 was founded in 1981 and has since become the largest global, independent technology public relations organization in the world, with 25 offices located in Europe, North America, India, Africa and the Asia Pacific region. In 2000 alone, Text 100 opened three wholly owned subsidiaries located in Atlanta, New York and Palo Alto. Earlier this year, the company announced that it won the opportunity to represent SGI in the United States in a highly publicized competitive review, just one of many significant accounts won by Text 100 in the last 12 months. Hynes attributes these accomplishments in part to Text 100's ability to support client programs through wholly owned locations.
"The Council's decision to track organic revenue increases is good for us since it clearly shows the strength of Text 100's business model in relation to an industry that is typically driven by acquisition growth," said Hynes. "Our clients directly benefit from the consistent, results-driven global methodology, working style and culture that Text 100 can offer as a wholly owned PR company."
