Text 100 Public Relations Debuts in the City That Never Sleeps

SAN FRANCISCO-Sept. 6, 2000 - Text 100 International, a subsidiary of Text 100 Group plc (London Stock Exchange: TXG.L), the largest global independent technology public relations firm in the world, today announced the opening of its office in Manhattan, N.Y. The New York office is Text 100 International's fifth U.S. office, extending the company's global reach to 23 offices worldwide. The company's aggressive growth plans call for the opening of a Silicon Valley office in October 2000 and an Atlanta office in January 2001. The New York office is located at 230 Park Avenue, 10th Floor, New York, NY 10169.

The office will be led by Vice President and General Manager Virginia Cartwright, a seasoned technology public relations professional who brings with her more than 10 years of agency and in-house experience in marketing communications for the high tech industry. Cartwright will lead a team of communications specialists whose experience spans the gamut of the technology industry - from blue chips to start-up technology leaders across all major industry verticals.

"Text 100's ambition has always been to become a truly global organization serving clients in the world's most important markets," said Aedhmar Hynes, president of Text 100 North America. "We have long considered New York an important part of these plans and believe that it will play a pivotal role in our future growth in North America."

Prior to joining Text 100, Cartwright was vice president of marketing communications at Compaq Computer Corp. in Houston. She also served in a director role at Compaq Europe, Middle East and Africa. Prior to Compaq, Cartwright held vice president roles at NCR Corp. in London and Dayton, Ohio, and served as senior consultant at Text 100 in London where she directed accounts such as Gartner Group Inc., Microsoft Corp., Sun Microsystems, Visa and Xerox Corp.

"New York is the largest media hub in North America and is quickly becoming established as an area for some of the hottest technology companies in the industry," said Virginia Cartwright, vice president and general manager of Text 100's New York office. "By opening an office here we are enhancing our service to global clients with knowledge of another key metropolitan city and bringing Text 100's strong international consultancy expertise to clients based in the New York area."

Among the first strategic hires in New York is Account Director Michele Daly, former managing director at Hill and Knowlton's New York office where she managed some of the office's largest tech accounts. Daly also brings international experience through her work with Miller/Shandwick Technologies, based in London, England, where she represented clients such as Adaptec Corp., MCI WorldCom Advanced Networks, BroadLogic, Airspan Communications and Singapore IT.
