Singapore Charities Get Digital Boost

Text 100 Singapore signs with NVPC

Posted on 06 July 2011

Our team here in Singapore is proud to have been awarded a grant by the National Volunteer & Philanthropy Centre (NVPC) to run their “Digitalising Volunteerism and Philanthropy” (diVP) programme.

This gives us a chance to work with local charities and help them get up to speed in adopting digital channels. Charities operate mostly through the help of volunteers and donors, with the continued rise of social media and online tools they now have more avenues to engage, recruit, and nurture supporters.

Through the diVP programme we hope to help them:

  • raise awareness
  • build relationships
  • recruit staff and volunteers
  • create supporters
  • change attitudes
  • raise action
  • solicit donations

These are not so different from what for-profit organizations need. But for resource-challenged charities, including online efforts might not be at the top of their list especially if they have animals to shelter or a forest to save. Therefore, the diVP programme also aims to educate them of the benefits of the online space and how best to manage their resources to utilise it.

Do you have a favorite cause that you support? Do you/would you keep track of their activities through any of their social media channels? Would you donate or offer your time more to help if they had an online platform for you to do so?
