SXSW registration is up 40 percent according to conference organizers – not surprising considering the massive crowd upon arriving 20 minutes prior to the badge pick up start time of 9 a.m. You can’t get a cab unless you call 20-30 minutes in advance. We waited 30 minutes to get a drink at the Driskill after leaving the Moxie party with a line around two blocks that wasn’t even moving. But as I sit in my first session, Innovation in Banking with Antonio Benjamin, global CTO of Citigroup, I’m amazingly one of about 30 in a huge ballroom about two miles from the Austin Convention Center. Apparently lots of people didn’t make it past the ACC after last night’s festivities.
